Multi-vessel bypass from aortocoronary to the ramus and left internal mammary artery to the left anterior descending artery. It was alleged that the revascularization was inadequate resulting in subsequent myocardial infarction and occlusion at anastomosis of LIMA to LAD.

Patient with severe multi-vessel cardiac disease underwent two vessel bypass and it is alleged additional vessel should have been bypassed. Patient thereafter suffered from a myocardial infarction with evidence of occlusion at the anastomosis of LIMA to LAD bypass with reduced ejection fraction.

Permanent: Significant - Deafness, loss of limb, loss of eye, loss of one kidney or lung.

Patient expired seven months after placement of a Sorin Solo Smart aortic valve and after undergoing removal of the valve prosthesis from a cardiac arrest. The claimant's attorney alleged a prosthesis mismatch and a failure to timely remove the prosthesis. Although experts opined that the patient died as a result of the severity of her medical problems and not due to the surgeries, this case was settled as a business decision without an admission of liability in order to avoid protracted litigation.

Despite aggressive medical treatment, her condition continued to deteriorate and she expired. Allegations against this physician were unsupported and the Notice of Intent was voluntarily withdrawn.
