Cholecystitis.
Operation, Diagnostic, Or Treatment Procedure Rendered Causing The Injury
Patient underwent an elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Postoperatively, he developed an abdominal bleed & required secondary exploratory laparotomy. He also developed a C. difficile infection, hypovolemic shock, respiratory failure, acute renal failure, severe ascites, IgG deficiency, & an abdominal wound dehiscence. He required multiple transfusions, consultations, & additional surgical procedures. Allegations of failure to timely diagnose an intraabdominal bleed resulting in numerous complications & long-term injuries.
