DR. BRUAH FIRST EVALUATED THE PATIENT AFTER THE PATIENT PRESENTED TO THE HOSPITAL EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT AND IDENTIFIED THE PRESENCE OF A LIKELY SMALL BOWEL OBSTRUCTION. THE PATIENT RECEIVED A SURGICAL CONSULT AND WAS DETERMINED TO NEED SURGERY AFTER CONSERVATIVE CARE WAS NOT SUFFICIENT. DR. BRUAH ORDERED THE INSERTION OF A NASOGASTRIC TUBE AT THAT TIME. THE PATIENT REFUSED FURTHER ATTEMPTS TO INSERT A NASOGASTRIC TUBE BY THE NURSES AND THE PATIENT EXPIRED APPROXIMATELY 10 1/2 HOURS AFTER THE SECOND ATTEMPTED INSERTION OF THE NASOGATRIC TUBE WHILE AWAITING SURGERY
