A moderate should dystocia resolved with McRoberts maneuver but resulted in right arm weakness with no flexion of the elbow and minimal flexion of the wrist. The infant was diagnosed with ErbÂ¿s palsy and discharged with follow-up appointments for physical therapy and the neurology department at All ChildrenÂ¿s Hospital. It is alleged the OB physician fell below the standard of care by using excessive downward lateral traction when attempting to manage the shoulder dystocia.
