Safety Management Steps Taken by Insured to Make Similar Occurrence Less Likely
This case prompted me to reassesss my anesthesia technique for cataract surgery. I modified my technique to use a blunted needle for periorbital block. As an addendum, my son, Stephen M. Wolchok, M.D. joined me in practice in 2007. Prior to this case I had already planned, and did, stop all intraocular surgery and only practice medical ophthalmology starting January 2012.
