Screening colonoscopy-post polyp excision.

Patient underwent unremarkable screening colonoscopy in October 2005.In October 2007, follow-up colonoscopy for c/o blood in stool and abdominal pain showed a 6cm lesion obstructing colon lumen at cecum.

Misdiagnosis Made, If Any, Of Patient's Actual Condition
Defense experts firm that 5% of colonoscopies performed within standard do not identify all lesions.Lesion in question recurrent at site of previous polypectomy-a cecum sample where the lesion often grows in tissue plane initially and not into lumen.
Principal Injury Giving Rise To The Claim
At second colonoscopy lesion, Stage IV adenocarcinoma with 13/15 positive nodes.Procedure center photo equipment mal-functioned and no photo documentation of 2005 procedure.No admissions of liability-compromise to avoid potential excess verdict.
Severity Of Injury
Permanent: Grave - Quadraplegia, severe brain damage, lifelong care or fatal prognosis.
