Final Diagnosis For Which Treatment Was Sought Including Patient's Actual Condition
The decedent was a 58 year-old female who was a heavy smoker. On or about 05/31/14, Mrs. Rovinsky was delivering pizza as a pizza delivery person employed part-time by Pizza Hut, Inc. when she tripped and fell on a sidewalk fracturing her right tibia requiring ORIF; Post-operatively, the decedent began developing wound complications leading to hardware removal on 09/19/14. On 12/17/14, Mrs. Rovinsky presented to Bayfront Health/Peace River Regional Medical Center with acute respiratory failure and acidosis requiring intubation; during her admission, she was diagnosed with pneumonia and had positive blood cultures for Group B Strep. Mrs. Rovinsky had a cardiac consultation performed by a cardiologist who ordered an echocardiogram on 12/18/14; On 12/18/14, an echocardiogram was performed; On 12/19/14 - 12/21/14 (weekend), Dr. Hiren K. Patel covered for the initial cardiologist; On 12/22/14 (Monday), Dr. Patel handed back the patient to the initial cardiologist ; On 12/22/14, Dr. Patel also reviewed the study and found that the study was limited, albeit that he couldn't rule out vegetations; On 12/23/14, Mrs. Rovinsky was discharged home by her initial cardiologist; On 02/15/15, Mrs. Rovinsky was found down in her residence; 911 was called and despite CPR, she was pronounced dead at the hospital
