This is a lawsuit involving a patient who underwent a Roux-N-Y gastric bypass performed by the insured on January 27, 2011.The patient did well in the post-operative period until the end of March 2011 when the patient presented to the emergency department with an upper abdominal abscess likely due to a perforation.The insured drained the abscess and the patient was followed by an infectious disease specialist. The patient was found to have another abscess on April 22, 2011.The patient was admitted to the hospital, but expired from a cardiac arrest secondary to sepsis.
