Principal Injury Giving Rise To The Claim
Patient complained of foot pain from wearing his brother's shoes while in Colombia. He was referred to a podiatrist as physical exam was suggestive of plantar fasciitis. Two days after seen in the office the patient expired at home from a pulmonary embolism. The plaintiff's attorney alleged a failure to consider deep vein thrombosis in the differential diagnosis. Despite the objections of the practitioner to settle this case, the case was settled as a business decision by the insurance carrier without an admission of liability.
