On 04/22/16, at approximately 7:00 a.m., the decedent underwent an upper GI endoscopy at the Tampa Bay Regional Surgery Center; during the procedure, multiple biopsies and the removal of a polyp with a hot snare;At approximately 8:30 a.m., Mrs. Tartaglia was discharged home, but fainted from abdominal pains as her husband was putting her into the car; she was brought back into the surgery center and evaluated by Dr. Schulman;At approximately 9:20 a.m., Mrs. Tartaglia was found to be pale with shallow respirations and non-responsive; intravenous fluids were started and pain medication was given per orders of Dr. Schulman; after the intravenous fluids and pain medications were given, Mrs. Tartaglia became responsive and at 10:20 a.m., she was discharged;Mrs. Tartaglia was taken to the ER at Largo Medical Center where a Stat CT Scan of the abdomen showed a moderate amount of free air in the abdomen;Mrs. Tartaglia died on 05/14/16 due to a perforated viscus.
