76 y/o male with history of hearing loss and tinnitus with Gentamicin induced ototoxicity. Pt presented with recurrent Urinary tract infections and lower urinary tract symptoms. He subsequently underwent resection of prostate and cystolitholapaxy for bladder stones but continued to suffer from recurrent urinary tract infections. Due to many allergies and resistance to many antibiotics physician prescribed Gentamycin IM for 7 days which was not monitored during course of treatment resulting in ototoxicity with vestibulopathy.
Severity Of Injury
Permanent: Minor - Loss of fingers, loss or damage to organs. Includes non-disabling injuries.
