Principal Injury Giving Rise To The Claim
Dr. Hendley first saw patient in office in Feb., 1993 and diagnosed the AAA in Feb., 1997.At that time, Dr. Hendley recommended the patient obtain an aortic ultrasound and referred patient to vascular surgeon.Patient agreed to obtain ultrasound but failed to schedule appt with vascular surgeon.Patient unilaterally and independently decided to postpone the vascualr surgery appointment.Risks associated with aneurysm were discussed in detail patient and patient expressed understanding of those risks. Nonetheless, patient failed to follow up with vascular surgeon and died of ruptured AAA on Jan. 14, 2002 at Sebastian River Medical Center in Sebastian, FL.
