PLAINTIFF ALLEGES THAT DR. MUTTREJA FAILED TO OBTAIN A SURGICAL CONSULTATION ON A TIMELY BASIS DURING THE PATIENT'S ADMISSION TO THE HOSPITAL FOR ADBOMINAL PAIN.AS A RESULT OF THE DELAY IN OBTAINING A SURGICAL CONSULTATION, THERE WAS A DELAY IN DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF MESENTERY THROMBOSIS VEIN.PATIENT DIED AS A RESULT OF ACUTE SMALL BOWEL INFARCTION WITH MESENTERIC VEIN THROMBOSIS SECONDARY TO SYSTEMIC INFLAMMATORY RESPONSE SYNDROME.
Operation, Diagnostic, Or Treatment Procedure Rendered Causing The Injury
PATIENT PRESENTED WITH A PRIMARY COMPLAINT OF ABDOMINAL PAIN.PATIENT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH PANCREATITIS AND WAS ALSO COMPLAINING OF PAIN IN HER ARM SHE UNDERWENT A FASCIOTOMY OF HER LEFT ARM.SHE THEN DEVELOPED BLEEDING AND WAS PROVIDED TREATMENT WITH RED BLOOD CELLS.PATIENT DEVELOPED A DISTENDED ABDOMEN.DR. MUTTREJA SAW THE PATIENT WHILE COVERING FOR ANOTHER DOCTOR AND HAD ALREADY BEEN SEEN BY A SURGICAL PHYSICIAN AND WAS AWAITING ELBOW AMPUTATION AND NEVER MADE ANY COMPLAINTS TO DR. MUTTREJA ABOUT ABDOMINAL PAIN AND HIS PHYSICAL EXAMINATION REVEALED THE ABDOMEN TO BE SOFT AND NON TENDER.THE OTHER DOCTOR RESUMED SEEING THE PATIENT.IT WAS LATER FOUNT THAT SHE HAD AN ABDOMINAL EXTENSION.THE SURGEONS RECOMMENDING OBSERVING THE PATIENT INSTEAD OF TAKING HER TO SURGERY.THE PATIENT PASSED AWAY THEREAFTER.
