Final Diagnosis For Which Treatment Was Sought Including Patient's Actual Condition
Leanne Fitzgerald presented as a 31 year old female 5' tall and 129 lbs in no acute distress at 17 weeks 3 days gestation initially on 09/08/14. She came in for normal exams thereafter on 09/22/14, 10/06/14, 10/21/14. On 10/28/14, she advised of increased water intake and limited salt intake. Due to elevated BP x 2 visits, pre-eclampsia labs were ordered. On 10/29/14, Ms. Fitzgerald was advised to come into the office. Her PIH labs showed an increase in uric acid. Due to the high levels and her increased BP and proteinuria, she was diagnosed with "severe preeclampsia." The patient was admitted to Baptist Hospital where she obtained serial BPs, started a 24 her urine, and underwent repeat blood work in the morning. The patient went into labor at approx. 4:38 a.m.. on 10/31/14. At 4:50 p. m., she was administered Pitocin. She gave birth at 10:40 p.m. The baby was delivered with the cord around the baby's neck and body. The baby was born without a pulse.
