Final Diagnosis For Which Treatment Was Sought Including Patient's Actual Condition
On 04/23/2010 a 53 year-old male was admitted to Mease Countryside Hospital due to complaints of persistent right-sided lumbar pain, abdominal pain and elevated white blood count.
Operation, Diagnostic, Or Treatment Procedure Rendered Causing The Injury
The patient underwent several diagnostic studies. On 04/26/2010, a needle bone biopsy was preformed of the T-12 vertebral body. In following five months, the patient condition continued to deteriorate while under the care of another physician. On 09/12/2010, the patient was admitted to Largo Medical Center where he underwent an emergency laminectomy for decompression of his spinal cord and removal of a tumor at the T-10 through L-1 levels, which was determined to be malignant Lymphoma, Diffused Large B-Cell, Activated B-Cell Type. The patient underwent extensive radiation and chemotherapy.
