Pt. was admitted to ER at Baptist of the Beaches on 1-31-00 w/ complaints of fever, joint aches & malaise.Pt. was eval'd, observed & discharged at 1:30 PM w/ inst's and orders for tylenol.Pt. returned at 12:30 PM on 2-1-00 in a markedly worse state.He was unresponsive w/ mottled discoloration.Pt's conidtion was grave w/ the insd. and hosp. staff initiating all efforts to save his life.As pt. was in process of being air lifted to ORMC, he arrested.Resusitation efforts were unsuccessful.

Pt's Estate alleges the pt. suffered from a bacterial infection deep within the knee that was not diag. during the first ER visit.Their theory is that this lead to toxic shock syndrome which evolved into systemic inflamatory response syndrome.
