Patient presented to hospital and was diagnosed with hemorrhagic cystitis. Patient?s bladder was distended and she had been unable to void since the previous night.
Operation, Diagnostic, Or Treatment Procedure Rendered Causing The Injury
Patient continued to bleed from bladder/kidney. Dr. Cohn was called in to do an urgent angiogram of the right kidney with embolization of the AVM, first using PVA and subsequently coils. This procedure was performed over a period of approximately two hours and ten minutes. Over the next few days patient?s condition stabilized and patient was ultimately discharged from hospital July 3, 2003.

Principal Injury Giving Rise To The Claim
Patient returned to hospital with complaints of a square shaped erythematous area in her right flank, with secondary burns and some area of scaling and erythema. It?s alleged that Dr. Cohn delivered excess radiation to the patient which caused the burn. Experts opine that Dr. Cohn?s care was within the standard of care and he actually saved this patient?s life and the burn would not limit patient?s day to day life. Furthermore, there was no clear evidence the burn was causally related to this event.
Severity Of Injury
Temporary: Major - Burns, surgical material left, drug side effect, brain damage.Recovery delayed.
