Principal Injury Giving Rise To The Claim
Post-op, patient had varying complaints of pain and stiffness, which was addressed by insured.She also related stepping down on the foot soon after surgery which may have caused some displacement of the 5th met osteotomy.The 5th met screw was also removed because it was causing patient some irritation.Because patient had continued complaints of pain, she went for a second opinion and went on to have subsequent surgeries.Patient alleges improper treatment by insured.

Permanent: Significant - Deafness, loss of limb, loss of eye, loss of one kidney or lung.

Post-operatively, the patient appeared to be progressing within normal limits; however, insured appropriately recognized that she subsequently developed a varus, as well as subluxation of the third MPJ. Another surgery was performed to address these problems.Patient continued to have ongoing complaints of pain and subsequently left insured?s care. She alleges insured negligently performed surgery, causing the hallux varus and the need for additional surgeries.

Temporary: Minor - Infections, misset fracture, fall in hospital. Recovery delayed.
